Slipped

He ran, he slipped, he fell. Right on his head on the hardwood. I happened to see the whole thing standing at the sink. I ran to his side (only to be beaten by his ever affectionate big sister, Lifvie) and pleasantly accepted his gesture of mommy to his comfort. I scooped him up in my arms, as the wails echoed. The dog ran to her bed in the corner of the living room in attempt to escape the painful cries. The cries that give feeling to their pain. He uttered through the screams, "I slipped," to make sure I knew. I just wanted to magically take away his pain, as most moms wish we could. I held him close and whispered in his ear. And then a moment that I will never forget. As he wailed, not getting any softer, he put his chubby little hands on my cheeks, looked into my eyes. Then head back and continued to cry. Then again his hands softly touched each of my cheeks and through his tears and wails stared right into my eyes. Without a word, in that moment, he knew, I knew. . . Ahhh, motherhood. Doesn't get any better than this.

Two years to catch up

Love. Growing up. Sleepless nights. Moving. Crying. Moving some more. Sleep. Love sleep. Want more sleep. Thankful for sleep. Planning for sleep. Laughing. Lots of laughing. Crying. Anger. Accepting. Fogginess. Sicknesses. Smiles. Clarity. Joy. JESUS. . .HOPE.

Just a quick update on family life. . . currently we are all healthy, okay, somewhat healthy (Isaac does have his 4th ear infection and a little runny nose and cough) but nothing major. Isaac is already 9 1/2 months old and exploding with personality and cuteness. The girls are quickly finding out that he isn't as fond anymore of them picking him up and holding him anytime they want. He is a squirmer and when he wants to go he will fight and fuss till he gets down. They both still have a special way with him and when they walk in the room his face lights up. We are all ready for warmer weather, but are enjoying playing our new Wii from Grandma Brenda and Papa Mike. And as usual the days are going by too quickly for me, and I am in awe that my babies are 8 1/2, 5 1/2, and 9 months already. . .how can this be?
So I have been a horrible blogger. . . 9 months later and I haven't added one single blog! I am really regretting not doing this. A very slow (and at one point broken) computer have a lot to do with why I simply stopped posting. And how much fun is a post without pictures (not so!). I have a lot of catching up to do. Still have the slow computer, but I am working, very slowly, on getting all my pictures backed up on CDs, transferred to the external hard drive, then deleted. Hopefully this will help speed things up just a little bit until the day that I can buy an iMac. . . that will be such a wonderful day! Until then I will try to be thankful for a working computer and not yell or throw things when it freezes up or takes hours to load one memory card!

Announcing Isaac Jace Thacker

Isaac Jace Thacker was born on April 18, 2008 to a very proud family--daddy, Jason and mommy, Jackie , and two very special big sisters, Bailey and Olivia . Jackie was induced on her due date, April 18th, at St. Alphonsus Hospital. Isaac was born 6 hours after they started Jackie on the medication and broke her water. It was longer than usual labor for Jackie, but once it was time for Isaac to be born he arrived in 8 minutes! Isaac was placed on mommy's chest, but within seconds was taken away to the warmer because he wasn't breathing and very gray in appearance. It was very scary, and emotional for mom and dad, but we soon heard him cry again and knew everything was okay. Isaac was then given back to mommy and they quickly bonded as he nursed. Bailey and Olivia came into the room within minutes to finally meet their baby brother. Both of the girls were all smiles as they entered the room, each with a big bouquet of flowers. Grandma Brenda had taken them to the mall earlier that day to the Build-a-Bear workshop where they made a bear for baby brother. They were so excited to give Isaac this bear. We then just marveled over this little miracle that entered our world. Grandma Connie, Grandma Brenda, Bailey, Olivia, Mommy and Daddy were all in the room to enjoy Isaac Jace's first hours. It was a very special day, a day we will never forget.

(Isaac was about 28 hours old when this picture was taken)

Big Sister Olivia with Baby Brother Isaac

Olivia was so proud of her new baby brother. Isaac was just 3 hours old when this picture was taken--so fresh, so new, and oh how exciting for a four year old little girl who had been waiting so long for God to put a baby inside mommy's tummy!

Big Sister Bailey with Baby Isaac ~ April 18, 2008

Bailey was in awe of her new baby brother. What an exciting day for a big 7 year old. . . to have a real life doll to play with. Isaac was just over 3 hours old when I caught Bailey checking him out as he laid on the bed cuddled in his blanket.
